| SEDS National Project |

Members of SEDS have submitted a proposal for
the ZERO-G National Project!
This is a wonderful opportunity to fly a science experiment in the
ZERO-G plane, which provides multiple periods of microgravity, almost
as close as we can come to doing experiments in a space environment.
In addition to doing incredible research, there is an opportunity
to reach out to the community and inspire a fascination for space
and science in local school students. We look forward to hearing
if the proposal is accepted (early February), and hope everyone
is as excited as us.

| General Membership Meeting |
November 4th, 2005 |
|
Our first general membership meeting of the year
went well. We elected new officers. There was a considerable discussion
of previous club events. Immediately, the club would like to consider
a trip to Mt. Pinos for the Leonid Meteor Shower later this month.
There was also a strong interest in a trip to Palomar, which will
probably happen early next term. Finally we got a report from our
new SEDS-USA chapter representative. JoHanna discussed what elected
positions there were at the National level. She also commented that
Caltech SEDS is the most astronomically oriented chapter in the
country.

| Perseids Trip 2005 |
Event Date: August 12th, 2005 |
|
We're planning a trip to El Mirage Dry Lake Bed
to see the Perseid Meteor Shower. The event will be held the evening
of Friday, August 12th. This is the largest meteor shower of the
summer and a great opportunity to get out of LA for a few hours
and see a few stars. If you are interested in attending, go to our
Starparty page for more info.
